'RESIDUE OF THOUGHTS WITH QUESTIONS FOR SOL' (close up detail) - 2015

Ink and folded paper

Folded - These artworks explore the simple nature of folding and ink.

'Residue of Thoughts with Questions for Sol' belongs to a series of drawings that resulted from a re-examination and expansion in my field of drawing. I am interested in the directness of drawing, and concerned with the relationship between action and result. I seek to exploit the full potential of a material through the interrogation of materiality and process.

Drill & ink - A series of drawings solely using a hand drill and ink.

I like to investigate the dialogue between diverse combinations of materials and processes. It is important that my work holds a resonance of the hand- made mark. The role of 'making' allows one to develop new dialogues through engagement with materials, techniques and ideas; a tool is simply a tool until it is controlled and mastered.
